Mr. Marc Guerin is a Consultant Eye Surgeon at the Mater University and Mater Private Hospitals, Dublin.
Attaining a medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (MB, BCh, BAO, LRCP & SI) in 2002, Mr. Guerin also studied law at the Honorable Society of Kings Inns, Dublin and graduated as a barrister at law (BL) in 2000. He is the only person to simultaneously study law at Kings Inns and medicine and retains a significant academic interest in medical law. He has also completed an honors degree in Civil Law (BCL) in UCC and a diploma in Health Economics from the National University of Ireland. Prior to commencing his training in ophthalmic surgery, Mr. Guerin received his academic doctorate from UCD for his full-time research in glaucoma eye disease.
Prior to commencing his training in ophthalmic surgery, Mr. Guerin received his academic Doctorate from University College Dublin for his full-time research in glaucoma eye disease. Having commenced his ophthalmology training in Ireland, Mr. Guerin completed the National Higher Surgical Training Scheme for Ophthalmic Surgery in 2009. He has also completed international advanced surgical and laser eye training and was accepted onto the prestigious Corneal and Anterior Segment program at Moorfields Eye Hospital London in 2012.
Mr. Guerin is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FRCSI Ophth), a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London (MRCOphth) and a member of the Irish College of Ophthalmology (ICO). He is also a member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS).
